The TRIO Educational Talent Search identifies students in 6th - 12th grade who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The goal is to create a college-going culture among student, their peers, and their families through encouragement to finish high school and exposure to educational options
PROGRAM SERVICES
Our Educational Talent Search program is designed to take students in 6th-12th grade and introduce them to best habits for success, expose them to higher education, and ensure they complete post secondary education. Program services include:

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
The guidelines below will identify most of our participants, but we do serve students who may not meet any of these.
A participant must be:

United States citizen or permanent resident
Additionally, participants should identify with one of the following:

be considered low income as defined by the U.S. Department of Education guidelines

first-generation college student
-
St. Louis residents
-
attending one of theses schools

MEET THE TEAM
Donnie Harris, MEd
Educational Opportunity Centers Program Director
Donnie Harris has spent more than 40 years serving students in the St. Louis area. Her educational background includes 3 Master of Education degrees: Counseling from University of Missouri St. Louis, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Webster University, and Educational Leadership from Maryville University. She spent the majority of her career as a counselor and principal in the St. Louis Public Schools district. Donnie joined HEC with the intention of continuing the pursuit of making quality education accessible to underrepresented, disadvantaged students by providing opportunity for them to embrace their greatness and purpose.
